Glass splashbacks are working well in both false and natural light. In a dark kitchenette, this is a benefit, so you can angle your illumination so that it bounces off your glass splashback and lights the room. And the light from the surrounding gaps will reflect the splashback of the mirror. The less reflective project of the tiles makes it less useful to illuminate your room.
